Adobe Video and Audio Customer Stories at IBC 2018
Smarter tools and workflows help filmmakers and broadcasters tell powerful stories — faster and more efficiently. And there’s no one better to show that than our many amazing customers from around the world. At IBC 2018, we’re thrilled to have another incredible lineup of customer presenters speaking at the Adobe booth about their work.
Presentations will take place in the Adobe stand #7.B35 at the RAI Amsterdam, and all times listed are GMT +0200.
Nicholas Economides, creative manager, FOX Networks Group Germany, Munich, Germany — When Nicholas went to work for the FOX Networks Group Germany on-air department, he already had experience in editing, sound design, photography, and directing. With the exponential increase in demand for digital content, he led the department’s switch from Avid to Adobe Premiere Pro CC, which speeds up the editing process. Nicholas will share how the team is able to produce 700 original and localized promo spots each year using an integrated Adobe video production workflow. Nicholas will be presenting “Cultivating Creativity Through a Digital-First Mindset” on Friday, September 14, at 1 p.m. and Saturday, September 15, at 1 p.m.
Patrizia Mosca, COO & executive producer, Kurzgesagt / In a Nutshell, Munich, Germany — Patrizia is a motion designer and illustrator with a passion for science and discovery. Together with Philipp Dettmer she created the Munich-based YouTube channel and design studio Kurzgesagt, which is German for “In a Nutshell.” More than 6 million Kurzgesagt subscribers tune in for fun, animated explanations of topics ranging from biology and philosophy to space and society. Patrizia will detail how Adobe Illustrator CC and After Effects CC help them combine a storytelling approach with colorful illustrations and engaging animation to create both their YouTube videos and explanatory videos for clients. Patrizia will be presenting “Inspiring Over 6M Subscribers Through Visual Storytelling” on Friday, September 14, at 3 p.m. and Saturday, September 15, at noon.
Nick Lyons, senior motion designer, Territory Studio, London, United Kingdom/San Francisco, United States — Nick is a motion designer for the creative studio responsible for screen graphics, VFX, titles, and more for films including “Blade Runner 2049,” “Ready Player One,” and “Guardians of the Galaxy.” Territory Studio recently created the screen graphics for the latest Marvel release, “Avengers: Infinity War.” Nick will talk about how the team used abstract designs and a combination of Adobe After Effects CC and Cinema 4D to reimagine the Milano, the ship used in “Guardians of the Galaxy.” Nick will be presenting “Reimagining the Milano: Creating Abstract Designs for ‘Avengers: Infinity War’” on Sunday, September 16, at 10:00 a.m. and Monday, September 17, at 2:00 p.m.
Lisa-Marie Gotsche, editor ORF, Vienna, Austria — Lisa-Marie is an editor for the Austrian national public service broadcaster that produces a range of content from quiz shows and documentaries to daily news production. ORF is committed to being independent, informative, entertaining, and producing quality content for the country’s viewers. Lisa-Marie will show how Adobe Premiere Pro CC helps her and her colleagues meet the challenge of delivering high quality for different types of content in a modern, fast-paced production environment. Lisa-Marie will be presenting “Art of the Cut: Documentaries, Daily News, and Experimental Formats” on Friday, September 14, at 2 p.m. and Saturday, September 15, at 2 p.m.
Dominik Baumann, multimedia producer, Ringier, Zurich, Switzerland — Dominik got his start as a still photographer, and discovered the world of 360-degree and virtual reality video after working with 360-degree panoramic photography. Today, he is a multimedia producer for Blick, a media outlet of Ringier. Dominick will talk through the process of creating immersive 360-degree stories that achieve the outlet’s goals for quality and fast news production. Dominik will be presenting “Immersive Storytelling in Fast-Paced News Environment” on Friday, September 14, at noon and Saturday, September 15 at 3 p.m.
Thomas Bergmann, CEO and head of creation, Silbersalz, Stuttgart, Germany — Thomas started Silbersalz with Kyrill Ahlvers and Josua Stäbler to create visually stunning commercials and advertising campaigns for strong brands and visionary companies. Silbersalz is part production company, part creative agency, and has long pushed the envelope with a nimble approach to production, a willingness to experiment with workflows, and a relentless commitment to great storytelling. Thomas will show how his team approaches storytelling and how Adobe video tools contribute to production, editing, color grading, and final delivery. Thomas will be presenting “Making Unique Advertisements Using Premiere Pro” on Sunday, September 16, at noon and Monday, September 17, at 1 p.m.

Alex Macleod, director, Media City Training, Salford, United Kingdom — Alex is an Adobe certified trainer who works with major broadcast clients to help create collaborative post-production workflows to support global sporting events. Media City Training is a production training facility that offers training courses in Adobe Premiere Pro CC and After Effects CC based on real-life experiences. Alex will talk about his work consulting on workflows for major events, and his experience working on long-form edits, short-form promos, and integrations with asset management platforms. Alex will be presenting “Adobe Premiere Pro & the Road to Moscow — The Journey” on Sunday, September 16, at 1 p.m. and Monday, September 17, at 4 p.m.

Mike Russell, creative director, Music Radio Creative, Newport, United Kingdom — Mike built his career as a digital audio expert, voiceover artist, and popular instructor. More than a decade ago he started Music Radio Creative, which produces high-quality audio content for DJs, radio stations, and podcasters. Mike will discuss the rising popularity of podcasts, how brands can use podcasts as another way to connect with their audiences, and how Adobe Audition can help them make sure that the quality of the audio matches the quality of their brand. Mike will be presenting “A Podcasting Adventure Using Adobe Audition” on Sunday, September 16, at 4 p.m. and Monday, September 17, at 10:30 a.m.
Robert Hranitzky, freelance designer, Munich, Germany — Robert is a freelance designer who does motion graphic design, animation, and art direction for a wide range of projects, including VFX, UI motion graphics, and main titles for feature films. With a love for moving images, Robert will share his latest tips and tricks for creating visual effects and motion graphics with his favorite tools, Adobe After Effects and Cinema 4D, while keeping budget and tight deadlines in mind. Robert will be presenting “Producing Incredible VFX & Screen Graphics on Time and Budget” on Monday, September 17, at noon and Tuesday, September 18, at noon.
Rafael Gala, head of broadcast IT, TVI, Lisbon, Portugal — Rafael started with TVI as a broadcast engineer before moving into his role as head of broadcast IT for the private television channel in Portugal. He’s passionate about TV, postproduction, graphics, and VFX, and embraces the challenge of doing things that have never been done in broadcast TV. Rafael will discuss how TVI combines MoovIT, HelmutFX, and Adobe Premiere Pro CC to deliver workflow efficiencies, and how the team is taking advantage of integrated capabilities in Premiere Pro, including the Lumetri Color panel and Essential Sound panel to enhance the quality of its content. Rafael will be presenting “Flexibility + Power: Editing Workflow for News and Premium Content” on Sunday, September 16, at 5 p.m. and Monday, September 17, at 5 p.m.
