Since its inception, Adobe Substance 3D has continuously evolved to meet the growing needs of 3D creators across games, entertainment and product design. Our industry-leading tools include Substance 3D Painter for texturing, Substance 3D Designer for material authoring and Substance 3D Sampler for material capture. Subscribers also have unmetered access to over 20,000 professional materials, models and lights with Substance 3D Assets and we’ve continued to expand our portfolio of 3D tools with Substance 3D Modeler for digital sculpting and the new Substance 3D Viewer (beta) for creative collaboration when working with 3D files. Today, we're announcing several updates that reflect our ongoing commitment to innovation and accessibility in 3D content creation.

Unmetered asset access

We recently introduced unmetered access to Substance 3D Assets, marking a significant evolution in how artists and designers access materials to texture 3D content. Previously limited to 30-100 downloads per month, users now have unmetered access to an extensive library of over 20,000 professional 3D assets. This includes thousands of scanned and parametric materials that offer near-infinite combinations of settings to achieve exactly the look you need, a wide selection of ready-to-use 3D models and professionally created HDRI lighting environments for staging scenes and rendering products.

This expanded access is already integrated into Substance 3D creative workflows, with assets available directly within Substance 3D Painter and connected to workflows with the most popular 3D tools and renderers. Whether you're creating product visualizations, game assets or entertainment content, you can now focus on creative work without having to manage credits for the numbers of assets you are able to download per month.

In the last few years, we've significantly expanded Substance 3D's capabilities. In Designer, we've introduced powerful spline nodes and path tools for creating organic shapes and curves in material creation, alongside improved node placement and workflow optimizations. Sampler has evolved with improved Image to Material creation tools as well as new AI capabilities, including our latest Firefly-powered Text to Texture and Text to Pattern features, transforming how designers ideate, generate, and customize materials.

We have also continued to enhance both creative workflows and technical capabilities with improvements to performance and core functionality. Full USD support now makes it easier than ever to maintain consistent results between applications across production pipelines. Performance optimization has been a key focus, with improvements to project loading times, particularly for projects with extensive brush work. Intelligent tessellation optimization automatically adjusts detail to improve viewport performance without compromising final visual quality or export results. For technical artists and pipeline developers, extended Python APIs provide deeper customization and automation possibilities, while native support of Illustrator files (including multiple artboards) and the new Text resource enable seamless collaboration in design workflows.

Substance 3D Stager has transformed product visualization workflows through significant performance improvements. The introduction of our AI-powered fast denoiser represents a major leap forward, dramatically reducing rendering times while maintaining production-quality output. This technology allows artists to achieve noise-free renders up to 40 times faster than traditional methods, enabling rapid iteration and quick turnaround for client reviews. The addition of Generative Background features provides flexible environment creation options, complementing our extensive library of professional HDRI lighting environments to help artists achieve the perfect scene composition more efficiently.

Our commitment to solving workflows challenges extends beyond Substance 3D tools and into the industry's most widely used 3D creative software, engines and platforms. We’ve updated and enhanced integrations with Maya, Cinema 4D, Blender, Unreal Engine and more, allowing artists to maintain visual consistency and control throughout their production pipeline.

We've introduced Substance 3D Connector, an open-source framework that simplifies data transfer between applications. This new technology enables seamless ’Send To’ workflows between Substance tools and popular 3D applications, allowing artists to move assets, materials, and textures while maintaining their parameters and editability. With planned features like Live Connection for real-time synchronization across applications, we're continuing to break down barriers between different stages of production.

For game developers, we've deepened our engine integration with both Unity and Unreal Engine, while expanding support for modern material workflows through our implementation of the Universal Scene Description (USD) format. This open-source framework for data transfer enables studios to build custom pipelines that maintain the parametric nature of Substance materials, allowing teams to leverage our technology within their existing workflows.

The new Substance 3D Viewer (beta) represents a major step forward in making 3D content more accessible across creative teams. This lightweight desktop application supports over 70 3D file formats, enabling seamless viewing, adjustment and rendering of 3D content. Its power lies in both its broad compatibility with many 3D workflows and deep integration with creative tools.

For graphic designers, the Viewer enables a connected workflow with Photoshop (beta), allowing 3D models to be dragged directly onto the canvas as editable Smart Objects for quick iterations. For 3D professionals, it serves as a unified platform for inspecting and sharing models from multiple sources, whether they're working from CAD designs or models created in traditional 3D tools.

This enhanced collaboration extends beyond individual tools, creating a connected environment where 3D artists, designers and stakeholders can work together more efficiently. Teams can now easily review files, inspect model details and streamline design reviews without requiring the use of specialized software.

And this is just the beginning. New updates are rolling out across the Substance 3D ecosystem all the time, bringing enhanced workflows, deeper integrations, and expanded capabilities throughout Substance 3D tools.
