Our goal with Adobe Firefly is to give you one place where you can choose the right industry-leading model to generate assets for your project, then get exactly what you want by editing those assets with the creative tools and controls Firefly offers.
Today, we’re bringing you new tools and capabilities that give you even more control and choice in the way you generate video. We’re introducing powerful new video tools that make it easy to implement precise edits and control camera motion. We’re adding new video upscaling capabilities to Firefly Boards with the addition of industry-leading partner model Topaz Astra. And we’re launching the full beta of Firefly video editor, Adobe’s new creative assembly space for generative storytelling that has gotten great early feedback from customers.
And to help you continue your creative exploration, we’re expanding our offer of unlimited generations with Firefly’s video model and all image models — both Firefly and partner models — until January 15 for everyone with a Firefly Pro, Firefly Premium, 7,000-credit or 50,000-credit plan. That means you can continue to create freely with Firefly’s commercially safe image and video model and our ever-expanding lineup of partner models — including the new Google Nano Banana Pro and more.
Precise edits and camera motion control for AI video
You know the frustration: You generate a clip of a coffee shop that’s almost perfect, but there’s a random cup on a table. Until now, you'd have to regenerate the entire clip, losing what was good in the process and wasting time trying to recreate it.
New Prompt to Editcontrols for video let you keep the good and surgically remove the bad. You can now generate a video in Firefly and then make precision refinements using text editing with Runway’s Aleph model, using specific instructions like:
“Remove the person on the left side of the frame.”
“Replace the background with a clean studio backdrop.”
“Change the sky to overcast and lower the contrast.”
“Zoom in slightly on the main subject.”
Firefly makes those changes directly in the existing clip. You’re no longer at the mercy of the next random generation. You’re directing the scene. And you can continue to refine by adding sound effects or music tracks, and edit further within Firefly video editor or Premiere desktop — all built to give creators full control from idea to execution.
Firefly also gives you more control over how the camera moves through your scene. With Firefly Video Model, you can now upload your start frame image, along with a reference video showing the camera motion you want to recreate. You get the cinematic camera movements you want, anchored exactly where you need them.
Together, Prompt to Edit and camera motion reference can save you hours of trial and error, let you preserve your “one great take” and give you more ways to apply your creative style to every shot.
Enhance, restore, and upscale video footage with Topaz Astra for video upscaling
Generative AI isn’t only about generating content — it’s also about the tools that make it adaptable, integrated, and actionable across workflows. Topaz Astra, now available in Firefly Boards, lets you push your footage to 1080p or 4K. Use it to boost low-resolution clips and make them sharp enough for YouTube feeds. Or try restoring older or low-quality footage to enhance clarity and detail. Whether you’re working with archival brand material or personal clips, you can give important moments a second life in new edits and formats. While your video is upscaled in Boards, you can do other tasks simultaneously — or even queue up more videos on your Boards to upscale — keeping you in the creative flow.
We’re also continuing to give you more choice in industry-leading imaging models, too. You can now also access FLUX.2, the latest image model from Black Forest Labs, which generates and edits images with photorealistic detail, offers advanced text rendering, and can support up to four reference images. FLUX.2 is available in Firefly’s Text to Image module, Prompt to Edit and Firefly Boards, as well as in Photoshop desktop’s Generative Fill, and, in January, Adobe Express.
Firefly video editor (beta): The creative assembly space for generative storytelling
You can now put together your creative vision in Firefly video editor, the browser-based video editor where Firefly generations become finished stories. Firefly video editor is now broadly available in public beta.
With the Firefly video editor, you can build complete videos right in your browser, combining generated clips, music tracks and visuals with your own footage, then shaping them in a lightweight, multi-track timeline.
You choose how you want to work:
Edit by timeline when you want precise control over pacing, cuts, and layers.
Edit by text when you’re working with talking-head or interview content — trim or rearrange segments just by editing the text in the transcript.
When you’re done, export in the formats your story needs, from vertical social posts to widescreen edits that sit comfortably next to your traditionally edited work.
Firefly video editor is where all your Firefly creations come together — turning AI generations, live footage, and audio into cohesive, shareable stories in one place.
Unlimited generations for eligible Firefly plans
To help you explore what’s new in Firefly, we’re running a limited-time promotion: From now until January 15, customers on Firefly Pro, Firefly Premium, 7,000-credit, and 50,000-credit plans get unlimited image and video generations in the Adobe Firefly app. The promotion includes all image models — including Firefly’s commercially safe image model and industry-leading partner models like Black Forest Labs’ FLUX.2, Google’s Nano Banana, and OpenAI’s GPT Image — as well as unlimited videos with the Firefly Video Model.
With this, you have the freedom to experiment freely with new ideas, knowing you can refine a concept as many times as it takes to get it right.
Anyone can now use Adobe apps in ChatGPT. Use Photoshop to edit photos, Express to create amazing designs and Acrobat to manage your documents — all free without leaving ChatGTP. Read more to learn how to get started.
